Karaoke for couples: sing, laugh and make memories together

Karaoke is more fun with the person you love. Nirmal Karaoke gives the two of you a shared stage in your browser, whether you are on the same sofa or in different cities. Pick a song, swap your voices for a laugh, sing a duet and record the moment. Nothing to install.

A shared stage for two

Nirmal Karaoke is an online karaoke player and live stage that runs in a normal web browser. One of you opens the studio, chooses the music and presses Go live. The studio gives you a link and a QR code, and your partner opens it on their own phone or computer. From there you can hear each other, follow the same synced lyrics and sing a duet with your own microphones.

It works for a quiet evening on the sofa, a long-distance date night or a surprise for an anniversary. You do not need a studio, special equipment or an app. A phone with headphones is enough to start, and if you want to go further there are voice effects, Auto-Tune, a soundboard and a recorder waiting in the same page.

How to sing a duet with your partner

  1. Open the studio. Go to the Nirmal Karaoke studio in Chrome or Edge on a computer, or in your phone browser.
  2. Allow your microphone when the browser asks. Put on headphones so the music does not leak back into the mic.
  3. Pick your music. Search for a song or upload a backing track from your device. Synced lyrics are fetched automatically when they are available.
  4. Press Go live and type your name the first time. The studio opens a live stage and shows a link and a QR code.
  5. Send your partner the participant link. Use the Copy participant link button, or show them the QR code. If they are already on the Singers lobby page, you can invite them from there instead.
  6. They join as a duet singer. Your partner opens the link, taps the button to join the stage and turns on their microphone. If they came through an invite, their mic turns on automatically.
  7. Sing together with the lyrics on both screens. Switch voices, add Auto-Tune or fire a soundboard cheer whenever you like.
  8. Record it if you want a keepsake. Use the recorder in the studio and save the file to your own device.

Anyone who has your link can join, so send it only to your partner and do not post it in a public chat or on social media.

Long-distance karaoke dates

When you are apart, a shared song can feel like being in the same room. Open the live stage on both devices, turn on your cameras if you like and treat it like a proper date: dinner on both ends, phones propped up, and a playlist ready. A few ideas to get started:

  • Weekly song swap. Each week one of you picks the songs for the night and the other has to sing them, even the ones they would never choose.
  • Anniversary playlist. Build a queue of the songs from your first date, your wedding or your favourite road trip.
  • Themed night. Pick a decade, a film soundtrack or a language and keep every song inside the theme.
  • Voice-effect challenge. Sing a serious ballad in Helium or Baritone and see who can keep a straight face.
  • Record your first duet. Save it on your own device and add a new one each year to hear how your singing has changed.

Fun ideas for your karaoke date

  • Sing a famous duet and swap the parts halfway through.
  • Let your partner choose a surprise song for you, and return the favour.
  • Try the Romantic voice for a love song, then switch to a silly one for the chorus.
  • Turn on Auto-Tune and see who gets the more dramatic result.
  • Use the soundboard to give each other a cheer after every song.
  • Score each other with made-up judging cards, like a talent show.
  • Dress up for the night, even if only the other person can see you.
  • Sing the lullaby, the childhood favourite or the song from your wedding.
  • Make a mini playlist for a birthday and sing it as a surprise.
  • End the night by recording one song together to keep.

Privacy tips for couples

A little care keeps the evening just for the two of you. These tips work whichever device you use.

  • Share the link only with your partner. Anyone who has the link can join your live stage.
  • Do not post the link. Keep it out of public chats, comments and stories.
  • Check who is in the room. The studio shows who has joined, and you can mute a guest or end the broadcast if someone unexpected appears.
  • Use headphones. They stop the music from echoing and keep the sound to yourselves.
  • Keep recordings on your own device. Recordings are made in your browser and saved only where you choose.
  • Clear site data on a shared computer. Your name, settings and soundboard clips are stored in the browser, so clear them in the browser settings when you are done.

Live audio and video travel over an encrypted real-time connection. You can read more on the privacy page.

What you need

  • A browser. A recent Chrome or Edge is recommended for the studio. Your partner can join from any modern phone or computer browser.
  • A microphone. The one in your phone or laptop works, and a headset is better.
  • Headphones. They avoid echo and make the lyrics easier to follow.
  • A steady connection. Wi-Fi or a good mobile signal on both sides.
  • Optional: call output. If you would rather sing on a video call, the call-output feature sends the studio sound to Zoom, Meet or Discord. It works on desktop Chrome or Edge with a free virtual audio cable, and not on phones. See the Zoom and Discord guide.

Couples karaoke FAQ

Can we sing together from different cities?

Yes. One of you opens the studio and presses Go live, and the other opens the participant link on their own phone or computer. Each of you uses your own microphone, so distance does not matter. A steady internet connection on both sides helps.

Do we both need an account?

No. There is no account to create. The first time you go live or join as a singer you type a name, and it is saved in your own browser so you are not asked again.

Can we see each other?

Yes, if you both turn on your cameras. The host can share a camera from the Go live window, and a participant can share theirs after joining. Cameras are optional, and you can sing with audio only.

Can anyone else join?

Anyone who has your live-stage link can join, so send it only to your partner and do not post it publicly. If you want a fresh start, end the broadcast and go live again to get a new link.

Where are recordings saved?

Recordings are made in your own browser and you choose where to save the file on your device. Do a short test recording first so you know what it captures.

Does it work on phones?

Yes for the studio, voices, soundboard and joining a live stage. Call output to apps like Zoom is desktop-only, but you do not need it for a duet date.

Do we have to install anything?

No. Nirmal Karaoke is a web page that runs in your browser, so there is nothing to download or install.

Can we use funny voices?

Yes. The studio has 33 voice effects, including Helium, Baritone and Romantic, plus a custom voice builder and Auto-Tune. A participant can also pick a voice on their own device.
