Privacy Policy

Nirmal Karaoke is built to keep your sound on your device wherever possible. This page explains what is stored, what is sent over the network, and which outside services are involved.

Summary

  • Voice effects run locally in your browser.
  • Your soundboard clips, settings, name and usage stats are stored on your device only.
  • Live audio travels through an encrypted real-time connection to the people in your room.
  • Stream keys are saved only in your own browser.
  • We do not ask you to create an account.

Stored on your device

The site keeps the following in your browser (local storage and IndexedDB). It stays on your device and you can remove it at any time by clearing the site data in your browser.

  • Studio settings, voice choices and your custom voice.
  • Soundboard uploads and hotkey bindings.
  • The display name you choose, and an avatar choice.
  • Local-only usage stats such as mic time, broadcasts, songs and top voices. These are not sent to us.
  • Stream keys and the relay address you enter, if you use streaming.
  • A small nk_support preference that stops the optional support message from repeating, and a short-lived counter (cleared when you close the tab) used to decide when to show the "Buy me a coffee" button (see Support & donations below).

Microphone and camera

Your browser asks permission before the site can use your microphone or camera. Audio is processed locally in your browser. It is only sent to other people when you choose to go live or join a live stage.

Live stages

When you go live or join a stage, audio (and video, if you turn a camera on) is carried between participants through an encrypted real-time connection provided by LiveKit. Chat messages and song requests in a room are shared with the people in that room.

The Singers lobby uses a small server we run to list people who are online. It holds your display name and whether you are currently live, in server memory, and drops that record shortly after you leave.

Streaming to other platforms

If you stream to YouTube, Twitch, Facebook or another RTMP server, your show passes through our relay server to that platform. Your stream key is saved only in your own browser and is sent to the relay to start your broadcast. What the platform does with the stream is covered by that platform's own policies.

Third-party services

The site relies on the following services, which may receive technical data such as your IP address and browser details when your browser contacts them:

  • Netlify hosts the website.
  • Render runs our backend (presence, tokens and the streaming relay).
  • LiveKit carries real-time audio and video for live stages.
  • Google Fonts supplies the typefaces used on the site.
  • Google AdSense may show ads (see below).
  • Music and lyrics services: song searches go through a JioSaavn data proxy, and lyrics are looked up from LRCLIB. The search text you type is sent to them.
  • Content delivery networks (jsDelivr and cdnjs) serve some open-source libraries.

Cookies and ads

Pages on this site may display ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can manage ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com and learn how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Support & donations

Supporting Nirmal Karaoke is optional. Donations are made through your own UPI app, outside this site. The site does not collect or store payment details. It stores a small nk_support preference in your browser so the support message is not repeated too often, and a session counter of how long the tab has been open so the button is not shown straight away.

Your choices

  • Clear the site data in your browser to remove everything stored on your device.
  • Revoke microphone or camera permission in your browser's site settings at any time.
  • Manage ad personalisation with the Google link above.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page will change with it.
